Middleware (runtimes)

Use this section for technical runtime docs: reverse-proxy upstream names, backend host/port mappings, and practical maintenance notes.

These runtimes are typically deployed as rootless Podman containers, managed as systemd services or via podman-compose.

Default runtime model

By default, all application logic runs as rootless Podman containers.

Exceptions (host-managed / dedicated VMs):

• Reverse proxy (NGINX): web.core.lef and Proxy & routing
• Internal DNS: dns.core.lef
• TCP proxy (HAProxy): proxy.core.lef and TCP proxy
• Tooling DB backend: alma.core.lef (see tools.db.lef)
